(Final) Monthly Web Editor Survey

As we wrap up our year-long Web Editor Survey, first, thank you to everyone who has participated! We in Web Services have gotten a terrific amount of actionable information that’s already led to improvements in our WordPress blocks and web editing experience!

The last two blocks are rather simple, but perhaps not the most commonly used: the Color Box Block and the Contacts Block.

The Color Box Block:

The Color Box block allows you to create a decorative callout box with a background color in one of Providence College’s brand colors.

This box is a Color Box! You can add any other blocks inside this box, as well, including images.

It’s as simple as it seems, really — but keep an eye on the colors you use. If you use a dark background color, be sure to use light text, so you have sufficient color contrast for accessibility.

The Contacts Block:

This block has two components — one is a “custom post type”, and then the block that you place on the page. (Learn more about how to use the Contacts Block.) Web Services recommends that you use departmental or shared email addresses, rather than personal email addresses in Contact Blocks, unless absolutely necessary, to reduce the chance of spam and phishing scams.

Here’s a Contacts Block:

Contacts Blocks are especially well suited to being used inside Column Blocks, to create pleasing layouts.
