WordPress 7 Is Here
We’ve upgraded all of our sites to WordPress 7. Most of your day-to-day won’t change — you’ll log in and pick up right where you left off. There are a few features of WordPress 7 that aren’t quite ready for prime time at PC yet, but they’ll be coming in future releases, so keep checking our blog for updates.
A refreshed dashboard
The admin area got a light refresh: a cleaner layout, higher-contrast type, and smoother navigation between screens. Moving from Posts to Settings to the editor no longer reloads the whole page each time. Nothing to relearn, it should just feel a little quicker.
Headings are now their own blocks
This is the one worth knowing about. Headings are now first-class blocks, with H1 through H6 built right into the inserter and the slash command. Type /h3 and you get an H3 — no more adding a plain heading and then changing its level after the fact.
It’s a small shift that makes building clean, well-structured pages faster. And since solid heading structure is one of the simplest things you can do for accessibility, this is a good habit that’s been made a little easier.
Advanced: The command palette
If you like to work from the keyboard, the command palette — ⌘K on Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows — is now available from anywhere in the admin, not just inside the editor. It’s a fast way to jump between screens and run repetitive tasks without reaching for the mouse.
It’s completely optional, and most editors won’t need it. But if that’s how you like to work, it’s there.
